Agape Home: Thailand
- Category: East Asia, Connecting People to Jesus in Our Community
Located in Chiang Mai, the Agape Home opened in 1996 as a response to the plight of children impacted by the spread of HIV/AIDS across Thailand. There are currently over 100 children at Agape. Many of the children are, or are at risk of being, HIV positive. Many have lost their parents to AIDS. Society does not want them. Kathy Walden spent many years as the head nurse, overseeing the medical treatment and care of these children. Park Chapel has partnered with this ministry to ensure that these children know that they are loved by people and by Jesus. With medical advances and a strong, loving, family environment, these children are growing up. Some become HIV negative. So, the mission has evolved to include preparation for a full, adult life.
